Bangsamoro Government, CRMC sign P14M deal for COVID-19 testing facility

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) in Cotabato City signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Monday (April 13) wherein the Bangsamoro Government will allocate P14,135,530.00 purposely to capacitate the hospital’s laboratory facilities to conduct testing for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Bangsamoro Government Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim and CRMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Helen Yambao signed the MOA at the Bangsamoro Government Center in Cotabato City.

As stipulated in the agreement, CRMC will utilize the fund for the procurement of medical, laboratory supplies and reagents and improvement or renovation of the CRMC laboratory.

It also includes the provision of salary of contractual laboratory personnel, staff training, and maintenance and other operating expenses.
The chief minister said, “This will make them (CRMC) one step closer in being an accredited and capable laboratory to conduct the very important Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing for COVID-19 patients.” 

“We will be able to have a better picture of the magnitude of the problem if we have a reliable testing method,”he pointed out.

In her message, Dr. Yambao said the facility would be of great help to the BARMM and Region 12 in the isolation of COVID-19 patients and in the mitigation of the spread of the said virus in the community.
