MAFAR-BARMM, BDA builds partnership to empower farming, fishing communities

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) established partnership  on June 19, 2020 aimed at empowering the farming and fishing communities in the Bangsamoro region.
The bonding of the two entities was concreted through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Minister Mohammad Yacob, head of MAFAR, and Engr. Windel Diangcalan, Executive Director of the BDA.

In a copy of MoU obtained by Luwaran, it was stated that the agreement aims to establish partnership between MAFAR and BDA in promoting, developing and enhancing the capability of the farmers and fisher, increasing productivity and income by introducing new agri-fishery technol.
It further aims to shift the mindset of the farmers from subsistence to enterprise mindset.

Under the MoU, BDA shall conduct social preparation, needs assessment, assist in organizing and mobilizing beneficiaries, assist in marker matching and recommend policies, plans and programs for agri-fishery development in BARMM.

On the other hand, MAFAR shall review and approve plans and finance the approved plans and solicit engagement of other stakeholders and appropriate line agencies and private sectors through endorsement.

Diangcalan said BDA is committed to assist in the implementation of development program for farmers and fisherfolks in its areas of operation.

BDA is the economic arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. It promotes building capacity, institution and confidence of the Bangsamoro people.
