BTA condemns twin bombings in Jolo

The Bangsamoro Transition Commission condemned the twin bombings last Monday (Aug 24) in the downtown area of Jolo, Sulu.
In a resolution passed on Thursday (August 31), the Bangsamoro Parliament condemned the bombings that killed 14 persons, civilians and soldiers, and injured 78 other individuals.

Last Monday’s first explosion occurred before noon and was followed an hour later.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement after the incident, “We condemn in the strongest possible terms the explosion incidents in Jolo, Sulu today, which left scores dead and wounded, including soldiers.”

President Rodrigo Duterte visited on Sunday (August 30) the blast site and kissed the ground in honor of the fallen soldiers and other victims.

The Jolo bomb attacks also drew condemnation of France, United Kingdom and Russia.
