OIC Assistant-Secretary General Ahmed Ssenyomo passes away


Ahmed Ssenyomo, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, passed away on the morning of Friday, September 11, 2020 in Saudi Arabia.
Ssenyomo is Ugandan ambassador who started to serve OIC’s  Assistant Secretary-General of Economic Affairs in 2018. 

Along with officials from the Republic of Uganda and the OIC General Secretariat. OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen led the funeral procession at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 12, 2020.

Al-Othaimeen offered condolences and sympathies to the Ugandan government and the family of the deceased ambassador. 

According to newvision.co.ug, Ambassador Ssenyomo was born in Kyotera, Uganda in 1952 and he studied languages and Simultaneous Interpretation at Al Alzar University, Cairo, Egypt receiving a BA in 1975. 

The late ambassador went on to earn an MA International relations in 1986 from the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
