Tawi-Tawi lists 76 confirmed Covid-19 cases

Tawi-Tawi Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) recorded 76 confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases as of Saturday, September 19, 2020.
In its Facebook page, the Tawi-Tawi provincial government posted “The IATF Tawi-Tawi had an emergency meeting today due to the sudden increase of CoViD-19 cases and the announcement of local transmission of the said virus in the province.”

As of Friday, Tawi-Tawi has listed 61 positive cases which was the highest single day spike in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Members of the Provincial IATF discussed the strategies in addressing the rapid spread of the coronavirus with consideration of the economic interest of the constituents.

“The IATF is urging the law enforcement agencies to implement existing rules, and advises the public to strictly follow the public health protocols such as wearing of face mask and observing social distancing,” the provincial government said.

The PLGU is giving P10,000 support allowance to each of the health workers (NDP) in recognition of their service as they are now in isolation after being exposed to the virus.

It has ordered about 2,000 PPEs and 500 oxygen tanks to be distributed to the different units of the IPHO.

According to the IATF, out of the 76 total confirmed cases, 45 are active, there were 7 deaths and 24 recoveries.

Local officials are urging the constituents to heed the health protocols such as wearing of masks and observing social distancing to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
