Tricycle drivers of Marawi receive relief assistance from BARMM

Around 3,000 tricycle and pedicab drivers in Marawi City received on Tuesday (Oct 5) a 25-kilogram rice each from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), a report posted at the website of Bangsamoro Government states.
The relief operation was an effort of the BARMM’s Ministry of Social Services and Development in collaboration with the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), Office of Deputy Chief Minister Ali B. Solaiman, and Members of Parliament from Lanao del Sur.

It was aimed at addressing the need for food assistance among the vulnerable sectors of society that includes the tricycle drivers affected by the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MGCQ) brought by Covid-19 pandemic.

In his post at social media, MP Marjanie Mimbantas said the tricycle/pedicab drivers are among those affected by the quarantine considering they do not have stable income.

The rice distribution was held from October 5 to 7 at MPW, Matampay, Marawi City. To avail the assistance, the beneficiaries had to present their driver’s license and their tricycles or pedicabs bearing stickers issued by their local government units or the MSU Administration.
