MAFAR distributes farm machineries for farmers of Maguindanao Province

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) distributed 32 farming machineries worth in Maguindanao Province on Wednesday (Oct 21) to improve the farmers’ income and productivity, a report in the Bangsamoro Government’s portal stated.
According to the report, the equipment delivery is part of the mass distribution of farming machineries allocated for the farmers’ cooperatives in the five provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Included in the machineries are three (3) units corn sheller, one (1) farm tractor, two (2) vacuum pack sealer, one (1) unit generator, one (1) hand tractor, one (1) floating tiller, (2) two thresher, (1) one rice combine harvester, two (2) units rice mill, and 18 units open-source pump irrigation system.

The turn-over ceremony was led by MAFAR Minister Dr. Mohammad Yacob at the MAFAR’s covered court in the Bangsamoro Government’s Center in Cotabato City. 

According to the Minister, if not because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the beneficiaries from the other four provinces of the region would have attended the turn-over ceremony.

Dr Yacob underscored the need to strive further in the midst of the pandemic. He added that the BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim advocates bringing the Bangsamoro Government closer to the communities. 

“The MAFAR Chief called for responsibility, accountability, creativity, and innovativeness among the farmers to attain the major purpose of the distribution that is to decrease poverty level in the region by improving the productivity and income of the farmers through mechanization, a post from MAFAR’s Facebook page said.
