President Duterte manifests support for extension of BARMM transition period

COTABATO CITY/Nov. 26 – President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his support to the proposed extension of the transition period of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in a meeting with regional officials led by Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim in Davao City on Monday (Nov. 23) evening.
This was disclosed by lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, BARMM spokesperson and minister of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG).  He did not elaborate, though.

Sinarimbo said Ebrahim thanked Duterte for his continued support to the Bangsamoro Government.

The BTA Parliament on Nov. 17 adopted Proposed Resolution No. 332 ‘urging the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines to extend the BARMM transition period to June 30, 2025 to afford the BTA sufficient period to fulfill its mandate.’

In the said meeting, Ebrahim briefed the President on the significant accomplishments of the Bangsamoro Government, including the progress of the priority codes and legislative acts that the BTA needs to enact into law.

The meeting was also attended by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Finance Secretary Carlos “Sonny” Dominguez III, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, Interior Secretary Eduardo An?o, and Presidential Adviser on Peace Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
