BARMM starts shift to e-governance

COTABATO CITY (DECEMBER 04, 2020) – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has started shifting to e-governance, with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) piloting it, an official said Friday.
Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, MILG minister, said the BARMM will soon help the region’s local government units (LGUs) switch their office transactions to digital, thus reducing face-to-face proceedings.

Sinarimbo said efforts towards the development of e-governance has the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In a Facebook post, Sinarimbo said Bangladesh was one country that was “successful in e-governance by leaps and bounds, from being an impoverished nation in the early through the late 1970s.”

MILG-BARMM middle-level managers attended the three-day workshop on e-governance in Davao City to commence the shift to e-governance.
According to Sinarimbo, a more modern MILG office will rise in BARMM regional government center to better cater to the ministry’s programs for LGUs and local communities.

Personnel of other BARMM offices will soon undergo similar training workshops to capacitate them in the shift to e-governance.
