In his welcome message, Mr. Joel Bakun, a community leader encouraged the participants to share their part in fostering unity among the Bangsamoro and working for common ground to achieve long and lasting peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.
Imam Albab Sakili from a religious sector explained the objectives of the meeting, and underscored the importance of participation in peacebuilding and democratic processes.
Habib Jamil Daham, CSO leader in Bongao municipality emphasized the essential points on why the BTA period that expires in 2022 is needed to be extended to 2025.
“The three-year period to implement all the salient provisions in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and the Normalization track stipulated in the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) is unrealistic to attain its desired output”. Mr Daham said.
Representative from youth and women sector, Miss Kadija Daham stressed that efforts in promoting peace and Development are shared responsibility of all Bangsamoro people and need everyone’s support in order to attain it.
Another CSO and Community Leader, Hji. Baser Ahmad narrated the Bangsamoro narrative on the Moro Fronts armed struggle and the sacrifices of their leaders and members until various peace agreements were achieved.
The activity was organized by Mr. Misang Hasim, a Community Organizer, CSO officer and President of Tubig Mampallam Agri-Marine Cooperative.
Mr. Hasim delivered the closing message. He expressed his profound gratitude to his fellow peace advocates who responded positively to the call for a consultative meeting and discuss the issue of BTA extension.
The closing prayer was led by Mr. Jurmin Jikiri, a Barangay Kagawad of Tubig Mampallam. He expressed his solidarity with other CSOs in sustaining the gains of peace agreement.
The series of activities were facilitated by Mr. Tirso S. Tahir of the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI), a capacity and competency institution located in Maguindanao.
