Office of BTA Majority Leader Atty. Lanang T. Ali Jr. extends emergency relief supplies to flood victims in Barangay Inug-Ug, Pikit, North Cotabato and Barangay Kudal in Pagalungan Maguindanao

Cotabato City (January 7, 2021)- The Office of BTA Majority Leader and KADTAG BANGSAMORO under the initiative of Atty. Lanang T. Ali Jr. conducted a simultaneous distribution of emergency relief packs to the two barangays in North Cotabato and Maguindanao on January 7.
First to receive relief supplies in the morning were residents of Barangay Inug-Ug of Pikit, North Cotabato, then, the team immediately proceeded to Barangay Kudal in Pagalungan in the afternoon to distribute supplies to flood-affected residents.
The 745 recipient families in Barangay Kudal in Pagalungan, Maguindanao were directly affected by flash floods similar to what happened to Barangay Inug-Ug Pikit, North Cotabato where the first batch of distribution was made with a total number of 772 household beneficiaries.

Over the past few months, some barangays in Pikit, North Cotabato had experienced flash flood caused by heavy rainfall. After the assessment conducted by the staff of the Office of the Majority Leader to the victims of the flood last October 2020, MP Lanang Ali Jr. personally went to Barangay Inug-Ug to extend his help to the flood-affected residents of the said barangay.

In his statement, Atty. Lanang T. Ali Jr. said that the caused of delay for the delivery of the relief was because of the conflict of time as the Bangsamoro Transition Parliament (BTA) on going deliberations on Bangsamoro Fiscal Budget for 2021 and some other important Bills. 

He also gave updates on the current status of the BARMM as well as pending bills that needs to be pass this year, and the recent approved bills. He also made mention of the Fiscal Autonomy under the BOL, and the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). 

“I am exerting all my efforts to implement what’s in the CAB and what was mandated in the BOL”, He said.

The distributed supplies are intended to cover at least a day or two were adjusted to suit to the needs of the community. The said beneficiaries, being low-income earners who engage in farming were left with no choice but to continue working despite the threat of COVID-19 in order to provide food on their tables.
