Tabang-BARMM distributes rice assistance to far-flung Barangays in Tawi-Tawi

UBOL, SIMUNUL TAWI-TAWI (January 17, 2021)-  Project TABANG of the Office of the Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim Al-Haj of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through Member of Parliament (MP) Prof. Abdulla A. Ahang distributed anew relief rice assistance to the most vulnerable families in the far-flung island barangays in Tawi-Tawi province.
Prior to the distribution, the Office of the Chief Minister turned over hundreds of sacks of rice to Members of the Bangsamoro Parliament who will take charge in the distribution to their respective constituents. 

In Tawi-Tawi, staff and volunteers from the Office of MP Ahang assisted in the distribution of packs of rice assistance to barangay residents particularly those living in the coastal areas.

The beneficiaries were mostly fisherfolks and seaweed farmers whose livelihood were gravely affected due to constrictive movement during locked down imposed by the authorities in compliance with the order of the National Inter-Agency Taskforce on COVID-19 in a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic.    

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic in early March 2020, food packed assistance from Project TABANG were distributed to residents through the Office of MP Ahang, who previously conducted series of relief food assistance to his most affected constituents in the far-flung islands of Tawi-Tawi.   

The relief operation being undertaken is part of BARMM Regional Government’s calibrated response in an effort to minimize the impact of COVID-19 pandemic to the Bangsamoro People.

The BARMM Regional Government has also extended various form of assistance to BARMM LGUs through its quick response fund reaching out to Bangsamoro communities both in mainland and the island provinces as well as areas outside of BARMM where many Bangsamoro people are also residing.
