ARENA BLANCO, ZAMBOANGA CITY- March 02, 2021. The Bangsamoro Communities outside of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BCOBAR Federation) Sama-Banguingi Chapter has recently reaffirmed their unwavering support for the extension of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) up to 2025 during their regular meeting here, Sunday, February 28.
The meeting was attended by Bangsamoro Community Leaders from coastal Barangays of Sacol Island, Cawit and Arena Blanco among the areas dominated by Sama-Banguingi and Badjao tribes.

Hji Usman Insani, a Bangsamoro Community Leader of Indigenous People (IP) representing Sama- Banguingi in Zamboanga City along with Fisher folks sector, CSO and youth leaders from coastal barangays have organized a series of activities manifesting their collective support for BTA extension in a bid to sustain the gains of peace process and the implementation of the peace agreement.

“Our call for BTA extension till 2025 is based on common sense that the long and painstaking peace negotiation and signed peace agreement between the GPH and the MILF cannot be fully translated into full swing implementation within a three-year transition period by the BTA of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Uz Taha G. Daranda, CSO leader in Zamboanga City also reechoed similar perspective on BTA extension and has been relentlessly empowering the Bangsamoro organized sectors to be participative in peace building by encouraging them to exercise their political and civil rights in order to safeguard the welfare of the marginalized sectors in Zambaoanga City.

Mr. Tirso S. Tahir, a Peace Advocate, also CSO Leader and Officer of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) and BCOBAR Regional Coordinator for Zambaoanga Peninsula has been exerting effort in the grassroots communities to capacitate the Bangsamoro emerging and potential leaders to enable themselves to become participative and responsive to the call in sustaining the gains of peace process and face societal challenges that may promote peace and development in the Bangsamoro Region.

“Tahir told the attendees that their support for BTA extension is imperative during this trying times that they have to make their voice even louder and appeal to Philippines Congress to pass an enabling law for BTA extension that can ultimately provide enough time for BTA to complete their mandates responsive to the Bangsamoro aspiration.
