MBHTE subsidies Standard Madrasah Curriculum implementers in BARMM


COTABATO CITY (May 8, 2021) — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) 64 Standard Madrasah Curriculum (SMC) implementers in the entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will receive
P5,000.00 subsidy from the ministry of education and the Bangsamoro Government. 

There are 18, 630 learners in the SMC said by Minister Mohagher Iqbal who will benefit the 

subsidy program on Friday, May 7, 2021,at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.

Distribution of this cash allowance was originally a program under National Government that was discontinued after BARMM transition. 

According to Iqbal, the BARMM government through the Office of the Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim Alhaj made way to provide financial assistance for School Year 2020-2021 and spent over P93M from its contingency fund. 

“Sa totoo lang po, hindi ho programa ng MBHTE ang pagbibigay sa inyo ng subsidy. Nationally-funded program ‘yan,” said MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal.

“Programa po ‘yan ng National Government na naitigil. Kaya ang ginawa po natin, dahil kailangan natin maipagpatuloy ang pagbibigay ng subsidies, sinalo po natin,” he added. 

Iqbal said that there is no assurance that by SY 2021-2022, these private madaris can still receive their subsidies. Minister said that his ministry will include these subsidies to their next budget proposal. 

“Mas nanaisin ko pang mabawasan yung ibang aspeto ng budget proposal namin kaysa hindi maisali yung subsidy ng 64 madaris,” he said.

Along with the Minister in distribution of cash allowance was his Deputy Minister Haron S. Meling and Director General for Madaris Education Prof. Tahir G. Nalg,  

There are  13 Standard Madrasah Curriculum  in Maguindanao I, six in Maguindanao II,  ten (10) in Lanao del Sur I, and ten also in Lanao del Sur II, and 11 in Marawi City, nine (9) in Basilan, three (3) in Sulu, two (2) in Tawi-Tawi has been subsidized and aside from the subsidies, the Minister said each Madrasah will also received 10 boxes of bond papers from the MBHTE.
