Moro Traditional Leaders express support for strengthening peace in Gensan

The Moro Traditional Leaders of General Santos City expressed their support for strengthening peace in the city during the Call for Peace and Unity Meeting initiated by the City Mayor’s Office-Integrated Cultural Communities Affairs Division (CMO-ICCAD) last August 25, 2022. Present at the gathering were the traditional leaders of the Maguindanaon, Maranao, Sangir, and Tausog tribes of the city.

 Also present were Esmael Andang, Chairman of the General Santos City (GSC) Muslim Council of Elders, Sheikh Ibrahim Andang Jr., Chairman of the GSC Muslim Religious Advisory Council with his vice-chairman Sheikh Abdulfatah Zacaria, Ustadz Moctar Alangan, President of GSC Madaris Federation; Atty. Guialil Kanda, former National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Provincial Director; and the Principe sa Sugoda Buayan.
The Moro traditional leaders manifested their commitment to support the programs of the local government on peace and security.
CMO-ICCAD Division Head, Jocelyn Lambac-Kanda, outlined the major programs of the local government for the IPs and Muslims. 
She urged the participants to support the formation of the General Santos City Council of Muslim Leaders of which the participants were delighted and responded positively. 

According to Lambac-Kanda, the proposed council would serve as the voice of the Muslim communities in the city. She also urged the Moro leaders to support whoever is selected as head of the said body. 

Col. Galileo Goyena, Commander of Task Force Gensan, graced the gathering and was thankful to hear the commitment of the Muslim leaders to help in strengthening peace in the city. 

Esmael Andang said the Muslim constituents of the city are supportive of the programs of the local government and security sector for peace. He said they have full trust in the men in uniform in protecting the constituents of the city.
