MSSD-BARMM gives UCT cash cards to 1,831 senior citizens in Maguindanao del Sur

Through its Social Pension (SOCPEN) Program, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) distributed Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) cash cards to 1,831 indigent senior citizens in the municipalities of Datu Montawal and Mangudadatu in the province of Maguindanao del Sur from 23 April to 14 May 2024.
The SOCPEN program targets 2,030 senior citizens, with 750 from Datu Montawal and 1,280 from Mangudadatu. So far, 1,831 senior citizens have already received their cash cards; 609 in Datu Montawal and 1,222 in Mangudadatu. 

“The remaining 201 unclaimed cards will be distributed in the coming weeks.
The UCT fund is intended to provide financial support to senior citizens, to supplement their daily necessities and medical health care services,” said the MSSD in a statement.

Meanwhile, the MSSD gave financial assistance of P3,000 each to 118 to indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on March 8.

The assistance was intended to cover the needs of the beneficiaries for six months. The initiative was a part of the MSSD’s Kalinga para sa may Kapansanan Program, a pioneering effort in the BARMM that aimed to provide P500 monthly financial aid to eligible indigent PWDs.
