‘Rido’ in Maguindanao del Sur resolved

Anwar Alamada, the executive director of the PSRO-BARMM, said “We are glad to be instruments of dispute resolution, and we are happy that all is well and ends well.”
Alamada said the conflict in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, involved two opposing groups. On one side were the families of Barangay Chairman Mohammad Upam and Ali Damensik from Barangay Bialong. On the other side were the families of Hadji Tunga Nacio and Brahim Kaliong from Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay.
After months of mediation by the PSRO, the local governments of Shariff Aguak and Datu Unsay, and the government security sector, the families involved in the conflict agreed to end their feud and reconcile.
The families had been embroiled in a five-year old dispute that already claimed lives and destroyed properties of both sides, rooted in disagreements over land ownership and territorial boundaries.
