PFP, UBJP form alliance for midterm elections in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY - The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) have joined forces for the upcoming midterm elections, forming an alliance to contest local positions in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte.
The alliance, announced during an assembly on Sunday night, aims to enhance governance in both provinces and the broader Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“We are working together to strengthen our support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and improve the region, ensuring peace and effective service delivery to our constituents,” said Special Assistant to the President and PFP vice president Secretary Anton Lagdameo.

The PFP has finalized the distribution of certificates of nomination for its candidates in the two provinces. The party has endorsed Sultan Kudarat Mayor Datu Tucao Mastura for governor of Maguindanao del Norte and Datu Ali Midtimbang Sr. for governor of Maguindanao del Sur. Former Maguindanao governor Esmael Mangudadatu, who is vying for a congressional seat in Maguindanao del Sur, has also received the party’s endorsement.

The assembly was attended by BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and various key leaders from Mindanao, along with all incumbent mayors. The alliance between the PFP and the UBJP, which is the political wing of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), signals a potential shift in the political landscape of the Bangsamoro region.
