BARMM officials denounce corruption allegations against presidential aide, call for peaceful elections

COTABATO CITY - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) officials have vehemently denounced allegations of corruption leveled against Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr. by former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Suharto "Teng" Mangudadatu.
BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim issued a statement on Tuesday, calling the allegations "entirely fabricated and filled with ill intent." He stated that the Bangsamoro government is exploring legal options against those who continue to spread false accusations against its officials without evidence.

"As Chief Minister of the BARMM, I firmly denounce the false claims of corruption in the Bangsamoro Government that besmirch the name of Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr.," Ebrahim said.

Ebrahim also urged the public to refrain from personal attacks and false accusations as the region prepares for its first parliamentary elections.

Maguindanao del Norte OIC Governor Abdulraof Macacua also defended Lagdameo, refuting claims that the presidential aide was coercing local BARMM officials to switch political alliances.

Macacua clarified that the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) had already formed a coalition with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) before Lagdameo became involved.

"There is no such thing as forcing the local officials," Macacua said, pointing out that various gatherings of mayors in the BARMM had taken place without Lagdameo's presence.

Rajah Buayan Mayor Yacob Lumenda affirmed Macacua's statements that there had been no undue pressure on local officials regarding their political affiliations.

Ebrahim exhorted the public to work together for a peaceful, honest, and credible first parliamentary elections in the region.

"Let us continue to serve the Bangsamoro with pure hearts and sincere intentions," he said.
