BARMM's AMBaG program extends medical assistance to 189,700 indigent residents

COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) continues to provide vital medical assistance to indigent residents through its AMBaG (Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government) program. Since its launch in December 2019, AMBaG has disbursed P886.4 million, assisting 189,700 individuals in the region as of September 2024.
AMBaG has established partnerships with 34 hospitals within the BARMM and 11 hospitals outside the region, ensuring access to medical services for those who cannot afford hospital bills. The program is guided by the directive of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim to ensure that health services reach all residents of the region.

"The directive from BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim is to ensure that health services reach those who cannot afford hospital bills," said Mohd Asnin Pendatun, program manager of the AMBaG initiative, during a news conference on Tuesday.

Recently, the Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital in Tawi-Tawi City received P5 million to support indigent patients, bringing the total funding it has received through AMBaG to P28 million.

AMBaG is actively working to expand its reach by collaborating with more hospitals nationwide, extending medical services to BARMM residents beyond the region. This initiative underscores the BARMM government's commitment to providing equitable access to healthcare for all its citizens.
