Bangsamoro Multimedia Network highlights accomplishments on Voters’ Education Campaign for BIAF-MILF

The BMN Key Achievements so far were Voter’s Education Training for Trainers Activity session for 33 BIAF that was held on September 20-21 at BLMI in Sultan Kudarat, that aims to equip participants with essential tools to further educate their communities.
The activity was graced by MILF Peace Implementing Chair Mohagher Iqbal who talked about the Bangsamoro Peace Process. It added that from the six target MILF camps in Mindanao, the BMN has conducted three Community Roll-Outs at Camp Badre on September 28, 2024 in Guindulungan, Maguindanao del Sur; Camp Omar on October 31, 2024 at Barangay Tapikan, Shariff Aguak, Maguindnao del Sur; and Camp Rajah Muda on December 5, 2024 held at Barangay Rajah Muda, Ligawasan, Special Geographic Area (SGA).
BMN Executive Director Faydiyah S. Akmad said that the MILF leadership asked the team to have at least 1000 participants in every camp to be informed on Bangsamoro Electoral Code, the process of voting through the Comelec demonstration on Automated Counting Machine in preparation for May 12, 2025 elections.
“We’re able to reach beyond initial projections with participant numbers now exceeding expectations—totaling an impressive 5,646 individuals, consisting mainly of both male and female attendees across three MILF camps namely Camp Badre, Camp Omar and Camp Rajah Muda,”
The BMN Executive Director said. To assess progress effectively, pre-and post-tests were administered, 100 BIAF members have undergone the test in every camp. This is to gauge on knowledge retention concerning Bangsamoro Codes and upcoming elections scheduled for May.
The BMN had also organized advanced social media training session on December 3-4, 2024 conducted at Paragon Hotel and Restaurant in Cotabato City aimed at enhancing digital outreach capabilities among Civil Society Organization AB4 implementing partners related to voter education.
The activity was participated in by the UNYPAD, UVPN, TLWOI, MDFI, MOSEP, TKI, BMN, and MBHTE-Education Facility Section. Another major accomplishment includes the printing of IEC Voters’ Education Materials designed by MOSEP with BIO-BARMM distributed during training and community roll-outs; a total of 808 pieces, equivalent to 208 sets, have been distributed so far across various locations including MILF camps and BMN volunteers.
On October 29, 2024, BMN launched its Voters’ Education Program attended by Ms. Noraida S. Chio, Senior Program Officer of TAF and BIO-BARMM Executive Director Mr. Andrew Alonto as well as other notable guests. The online program live at BMN facebook page airs every Tuesday also via DXJC 92.1 Voice FM Cotabato and Bangsamoro Communication Network (BCN) radio frequencies from 10 AM to 11 AM.
The Voters' Education program aims to prepare community members for the upcoming National, Local, and Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections in 2025 as part of The Asia Foundation's Activate Bangsamoro Phase 4 (AB4) Project supported by the UK Government and British Embassy Manila in collaboration with Bangsamoro Parliament, BIO-BARMM, and Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
