Senior Minister Abunawas Maslamama appointed as MAFAR Minister

The appointment was confirmed during the ceremonial turnover of the Office of the Senior Minister held on April 4, 2025, at the Bangsamoro Government Center. The event marked Maslamama’s transition from his previous post as Senior Minister to his new role leading MAFAR.
The ceremony was led by Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, together with officials from the Office of the Chief Minister and other BARMM ministries, as they welcomed and congratulated the newly appointed Senior Minister, Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob.
In his speech, outgoing Senior Minister Abunawas Maslamama described his two-year tenure as a privilege and expressed his unwavering commitment to serving the Bangsamoro people.
“It has been a privilege to contribute to the development of our region and the well-being of our people,” Maslamama said. “As I step down from this role, I remain confident that the progress we have achieved is only the beginning of what will surely be a bright and prosperous future for BARMM.”
Maslamama also extended his congratulations to his successor, expressing full confidence in Dr. Yacob’s leadership. As he assumes the role of MAFAR Minister, Maslamama is expected to steer key initiatives in agriculture, fisheries, and agrarian reform—sectors vital to the region's economic and social development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yacob, the newly appointed Senior Minister, expressed his gratitude and pledged to uphold the principles of Moral Governance. He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the Bangsamoro and supporting the leadership of Interim Chief Minister Macacua.
The appointment of MP Maslamama as MAFAR Minister signifies continued trust in his leadership and experience as BARMM pushes forward its programs for inclusive growth and rural transformation.
