Bangsamoro Region inaugurates first dialysis center in Lanao del Sur

Malabang, Lanao del Sur – A significant leap forward for healthcare in Muslim Mindanao was marked on Tuesday with the inauguration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (BARMM) first dialysis center in Lanao del Sur. The 10-machine facility, located at the Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) in Malabang, was hailed as a "dream come true" for the region.
Ministry of Health of the BARMM (MOH-BARMM) Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. expressed his pride during the opening ceremony, stating, "This is a realization of a dream come true, a pride of the Bangsamoro region."

The new dialysis center is a key component of the Health Facility Enhancement Program, which also brought advanced equipment for stroke care, microbiology, and public health to the hospital.

Sinolinding emphasized the immediate impact on the community, noting, "Patients facing kidney issues now have access to these services right in the heart of the community."

This development promises to alleviate the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances for essential dialysis treatment.

Dr. Hanipah Madale-Montañer, the chief of DSBMMH, acknowledged the crucial support of PhilHealth and the BARMM leadership in the upgrade of the hospital. The facility has grown significantly from its humble beginnings as a 10-bed emergency facility in 1981 to a 150-bed Level 1 hospital.

This milestone follows the MOH-BARMM's recent transfer of P62.1 million worth of medical assets to various government health facilities across the region in March. These assets included ambulances and medical assistance grants, further strengthening the healthcare infrastructure within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. The inauguration of the dialysis center in Lanao del Sur signifies a continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Bangsamoro people.
