MRLC Concludes Technical Meeting to Review Roadmap and Vision

The Mindanao Religious Leaders Conference (MRLC) concluded its two-day technical meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Kampilan Lounge, 6th Infantry Division Camp, Siongco, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The meeting, organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and facilitated by Director Atty. Ishmael I. Bahjin, aimed to review the MRLC’s roadmap and organizational vision.

1. Formalization of the MRLC Secretariat;
2. Definition of the secretariat’s roles and functions; and
3. Development of actionable plans.
Discussions were structured around key agreements, challenges, action points, responsible entities, and timelines. The group also worked on thematic planning for future conferences and interfaith engagements.
The MRLC is the successor to the Bishops-Ulama Conference (BUC), originally founded by Archbishop Fernando Capalla, Islamic scholar Dr. Mahid M. Mutilan, and Bishop Hilario Gomez/
A Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for next month, while the General Assembly is set for October 2025.
Representatives from the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' (BDI) who attended the event included Executive Director Hafiz A. Abuhuraira, Fatwa Department Chief Camaludin Esmail, Ustadz Maceda M. Interino, and Abu Muammar Mohammad T. Pangca.
The BDI expressed its appreciation to OPAPRU for organizing the meeting and reaffirmed its commitment to MRLC’s interfaith peace-building efforts.
