MSSD delivers urgent aid to flood-stricken families in Maguindanao del Sur

A total of 1,054 families in Datu Piang received comprehensive aid packages from the MSSD on May 23. Each family was provided with essential food packs, including 25 kilograms of rice, canned goods, and instant coffee. Non-food items such as sleeping kits and hygiene kits were also distributed. The beneficiaries, currently residing in evacuation centers, hail from the barangays of Kanguan, Magaslong, Poblacion, Madtalbayog, Buayan, and Damabalas.
The day prior, on May 22, some 555 families in Datu Anggal Midtimbang also received similar assistance through the MSSD Municipal Social Welfare Office. Their aid packages contained 25 kilograms of rice, canned goods, and instant coffee, alongside non-food items that included 300 sets of cooking kits, 500 hygiene kits, and 335 sleeping kits. Both evacuees and families remaining in their homes benefited from this distribution.
The MSSD's comprehensive flood validation and monitoring, which commenced on May 15, has identified 14 municipalities as severely affected by the flooding, impacting a staggering total of 45,778 households across the province.
The MSSD has assured the public of its continued commitment to the affected communities. The ministry stated it will closely monitor the evolving situation to assess further needs and determine appropriate follow-up interventions, ensuring ongoing support for the flood-affected families in Maguindanao del Sur.
