?2 Million Aid Extended to Khutaba, Imaams in Lanao Provinces

A total of ?2 million in financial assistance has been granted to 80 khutaba and imaams from Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte to strengthen their capacity as community leaders and religious educators.

Each recipient received ?25,000 as part of a broader initiative to support the crucial role of religious figures in local governance and peace-building efforts.

The announcement was posted by Member of Parliament (MP) Said Shiek, who facilitated the assistance through the Office of MP Said Shiek (OMPSS) in coordination with the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS-BARMM). The support forms part of the Capacity Development Program of MPOS, funded by the 2024 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) Supplemental Fund allocated by MP Shiek.

Before the release of the aid, a two-day capacity development training was held on June 2–3, 2025, at Minkay White Beach Resort in Initao, Misamis Oriental. Renowned scholars Dr. Anwar Radiamoda and Dr. Hassanor Alapa led sessions aimed at enhancing the leadership and educational functions of khutaba and imaams in modern society.

The event was personally attended by MP Shiek, his team, and MPOS personnel, reinforcing the Bangsamoro government’s dedication to empowering religious leaders in addressing the evolving needs of their communities.
