Tawi-Tawi Officials Take Oath in Ceremony Led by Chief Minister Macacua

Members of the Bangsamoro Parliament joined Chief Minister Hon. Abdulraof A. Macacua on June 24, 2025, in the official oath-taking of Governor Ysmael “Mang” Sali and Vice Governor Alsyed Sali, along with newly elected provincial officials. The ceremony, held in Bongao, signaled the unity of Bangsamoro leadership and support for the province’s continued progress under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as shared in a post by Deputy Speaker Don Mustapha Loong.
A strong delegation from the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament attended, including Deputy Speakers Don Mustapha Loong, Jet Lim, and Baintan Ampatuan, along with several Members of Parliament and key officials. The event began with an interfaith prayer led by Provincial Imam Ustadz Abdulgani Alawi and was attended by municipal mayors, civil society groups, and other stakeholders.

Chief Minister Macacua administered the oath of office to Governor Sali and Vice Governor Sali, along with members of the provincial board from both districts. In his keynote address, Macacua congratulated the newly elected officials and urged them to serve with humility and purpose. “To govern is to carry the weight of the people’s expectations,” he said, reminding them that Tawi-Tawi remains central to Bangsamoro history.

The Chief Minister also spoke of “modern politics,” encouraging leaders to avoid division and instead uphold unity, humility, and genuine public service. “Love your work as you love your wife,” he quipped, underlining that public service requires constant commitment without weekends or holidays. He emphasized unity as BARMM prepares for its first parliamentary elections in October 2025.

In his message, Governor Sali thanked the people of Tawi-Tawi for their continued trust, calling his third and final term a deeper responsibility to serve. “This oath is not just a formality, but a prayer of my unwavering commitment,” he said. He pledged to strengthen the province’s identity, governance, and spiritual foundation by supporting the Agama program, the Madrasa system, and religious leaders.
