DAVAO CITY–The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has taken a significant stride towards bolstering its Halal industry with the successful conclusion of a five-day workshop dedicated to shaping the communication framework for the Bangsamoro Halal Industry Development Plan (BHIDP) 2025–2030. The intensive session, held from June 16 to 20, 2025, at Go Hotel, Lanang, Davao City, brought together key stakeholders to strategize on effective and consistent messaging for the vital sector.
Spearheaded by the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism (MTIT) and the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), the initiative was conducted in close collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the auspices of the Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) program. This partnership underscores the commitment to a robust and internationally supported development of the Halal industry in the region.
Participants from various Bangsamoro ministries, offices, and agencies converged for the workshop, demonstrating a unified approach to the plan's implementation.
Princess Limon Tulino was present, representing the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’, highlighting the crucial role of Islamic religious authority in ensuring the integrity and authenticity of Halal practices within the framework.
The primary objective of the workshop was to formulate a detailed communication plan, which will serve as an integral component of the BHIDP 2025–2030. Emphasizing the critical need for consistent and effective communication, the sessions focused on developing a cohesive strategy to ensure that accurate and timely information reaches all relevant stakeholders. This includes not only various government bodies but also potential investors and, crucially, the broader Bangsamoro community.
The communication plan formulated during this workshop is a crucial step towards strengthening the Halal Industry Development Plan. It aims to enhance coordination, promote broader awareness, and foster trust among all stakeholders, ultimately contributing to a more cohesive and effective development of the Halal industry across the Bangsamoro region.
