Number of BARMM parliament seats can possibly go up to 80

The Commission on Elections said Tuesday, July 15 that the number of seats in the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections in October may again go up to 80 with the inclusion of the seven seats originally allotted for Sulu.
This latest development came at a time the Bangsamoro Parliament is about to pass a law redistributing the seven seats to other provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

But Garcia emphasized that it was still uncertain if the seats would be redistributed.

“We have to wait for the law and what it will say. We can’t say that it can’t be done. We don’t want to prevent lawmakers from performing their jobs,” Garcia said in Filipino as quoted by Philstar.com.

On Monday, the Comelec conducted a “trusted build generation” for the automated election system to be used in the BARMM parliamentary elections in October which Garcia said is mandated, especially if there is a modification in the election source code.
