Bangsamoro Youth Chair Joins Global Cohesion Talks in Singapore

BYC Chairperson Nasserudin Dunding participated in the 3rd International Conference on Cohesive Societies (ICCS) held in Singapore. The international gathering, themed “Cohesive Societies, Resilient Futures,” was organized by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with support from Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).
This was shared through a Facebook post on Chairperson Dunding’s official page.

Bringing together over 2,200 participants from more than 50 countries, ICCS 2025 served as a major platform for cross-cultural and interfaith dialogue. Global thought leaders, policymakers, youth representatives, and civil society actors discussed strategies to foster social inclusion and build resilient communities amid growing diversity and polarization.

Dunding actively took part in thematic sessions and capacity-building workshops, contributing insights from the Bangsamoro context. He emphasized the efforts of the Bangsamoro Government in empowering young people and advancing peace and development across the region. His interventions spotlighted how youth engagement can play a central role in strengthening cohesion in culturally diverse societies.

The conference featured three thematic pillars, namely “Unpacking Multiculturalism,” “Navigating Uncertainties,” and “Forging Societal Resilience,” which guided a range of discussions and collaborative activities. Dunding also engaged in networking sessions with youth-led organizations and development partners, sharing both the progress and challenges in promoting inclusive governance in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

As a previous participant in ICCS 2022, Dunding highlighted the value of continued involvement in such global exchanges. He shared that the experiences and lessons learned from the three-day conference would be incorporated into the Bangsamoro Youth Commission’s Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs), particularly those focused on inclusive leadership, peacebuilding, and youth empowerment.

The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) is the primary policy-making and coordinating body on youth affairs in the Bangsamoro region. Mandated to ensure the meaningful participation of youth in governance and development, BYC formulates policies,

supports capacity-building programs, and promotes the rights and welfare of young people in BARMM. Its mission is to empower the youth as active partners in peacebuilding, nation-building, and regional transformation.
