Engr. Mohajirin Ali Appointed New Chair of MILF Information Committee

SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — A leadership transition within the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) took place on July 20, 2025, as Chair Mohagher Iqbal officially handed over the leadership of the MILF Information Committee to Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA. The turnover ceremony was held at the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI).

Present during the handover were the provincial directors of the Information Committee from the different provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), reflecting strong support for the transition and renewed commitment to the work of the Committee in advancing information, awareness, and unity within the MILF and Bangsamoro communities.

Chair Iqbal, who now assumes the post of MILF Central Committee 1st Vice-Chairman, highlighted the importance of the turnover. “This transition reflects the evolving structure and growing responsibilities of our movement as we continue to engage in governance and political work,” he said. He described Engr. Ali as “very capable of the task,” citing his long service in both the MILF and the Bangsamoro Government, and his unwavering commitment to the Bangsamoro cause.

Alongside Engr. Ali’s appointment, Mr. Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong was also designated as Vice-Chair of the Information Committee, reinforcing the leadership structure and further strengthening the Committee’s capacity to carry out its functions across the region.

In his acceptance message, Engr. Mohajirin Ali expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership for the trust given to him. “I thank the leadership for this responsibility. I know it won’t be easy, but I am ready to serve,” he said. “The work ahead will be challenging, but I believe that with the support of the officers and members of the Information Committee, we can continue the good work that has already been started.”

He also emphasized the need for collective effort, especially during this period of transition. “I know I cannot do this alone. Your experience, your insights, and your continued dedication will be vital in the months ahead. I hope to work closely with all of you as we move forward.”

The turnover ceremony ended on a note of solidarity, with both the outgoing and incoming chairs underscoring the continued relevance of the Information Committee, especially at a time when effective communication and unity remain key to sustaining the gains of the Bangsamoro cause.
