MILF Chairman Murad Bars Members from Joining Unilateral Normalization Activities

Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim has issued a directive prohibiting all Front and Base Commanders of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), as well as other line agencies of the organization, from attending or participating in any unilateral normalization activities organized by the National Government or the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) without prior approval and official authorization.

The order, announced through the MILF Chairman’s official statement, emphasized the need for discipline and adherence to established peace mechanisms agreed upon by both sides.

The directive follows a Central Committee resolution dated July 19, 2025, which temporarily suspended the fourth and final phase of the decommissioning process. The move reflects the MILF leadership’s firm stance on ensuring that all activities related to normalization are carried out with proper coordination and in accordance with the peace agreements.

MILF leaders have repeatedly stressed that unilateral actions undermine the spirit of partnership and mutual trust that serve as the foundation of the peace process between the government and the MILF.

The latest directive highlights the organization’s resolve to safeguard the integrity of the peace process and maintain its commitment to achieving lasting peace in the Bangsamoro region through established and agreed-upon mechanisms.
