UBJP Nominees Convene, Pledge Commitment to the Party

COTABATO CITY – Nominees of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) pledged their loyalty and commitment to the party as they convened under the leadership of Party President Ahod “Al-Haj Murad” Ebrahim in preparation for the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections scheduled in October 2025.
During the meeting, nominees and provincial representatives presented their proposed strategies to strengthen the party’s campaign in the different provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The discussions focused on aligning approaches with the specific needs and conditions of local communities across the region.

UBJP, established in 2014 as the official political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), serves as the movement’s democratic vehicle in the political arena. Since its accreditation by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as a regional political party, UBJP has been actively organizing and expanding its membership base throughout BARMM to ensure broad participation in the region’s transition to self-governance. The party positions itself as a unifying force to promote inclusive governance and sustain the gains of the peace process.

Ebrahim reminded the nominees of the deeper purpose of their political engagement. “Our goal is not only to win the elections, but to build a government that truly listens to and serves our people,” he said. He emphasized that the UBJP must continue to stand as “a party of integrity and dedication to public service.”

The upcoming BARMM parliamentary elections will be historic, as it will be the first time the Bangsamoro people directly elect the 80-member parliament since the establishment of the autonomous government in 2019. The parliament, composed of both district and party representatives, holds the unique authority to perform both legislative and executive functions under a parliamentary system. This election will determine not only the composition of the legislature but also the leadership of the regional government, including the Chief Minister, who will be elected by the parliament.

The assembly concluded with the Party Loyalty Pledge led by Ebrahim, where nominees reaffirmed their dedication to UBJP’s mission and their commitment to serve the Bangsamoro people through the democratic process.
