BARMM's flagship scholarship program boosts higher education

Held at the Mall of Alnor, the event marked the culmination of the Access to Higher and Modern Education–Scholarship Program (AHME-SP) for the 2nd Cohort and the official entry of the 6th Cohort.
Of the graduating 2nd Cohort, a total of 193 scholars were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements, receiving Latin honors. This included one Summa Cum Laude, 45 Magna Cum Laudes, and 147 Cum Laudes. Their success highlights the program's commitment to fostering academic excellence within the region.
Simultaneously, the ceremony served as a welcoming event for the 6th Cohort. A total of 600 new grantees from Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and the Special Geographic Area signed their contracts and took their oath, solidifying their commitment as AHME-SP scholars. These students join the ranks of their peers from Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, Lamitan City, Lanao del Sur, and Marawi City who had already signed their contracts last month.
Director-General for Higher Education Marjuni Maddi delivered a message, reiterating the Bangsamoro government's perspective on education.
"As Minister Iqbal always reminds us, we don’t spend on education, we invest," Maddi said.
"We invest in the education of our youth because we want them to be part of nation-building—we want them to contribute to the peace and development of the Bangsamoro territory," added Maddi.
The ceremony underscored the pivotal role of the AHME-SP in shaping future leaders of the Bangsamoro, demonstrating how access to quality education can be a transformative force.
Director-General for Madaris Education Tahir Nalg also addressed the scholars, urging them to continue their educational journey beyond tertiary levels.
"Strive hard to finish your education," Nalg said.
"Knowledge is power, and the more you learn, the more you can contribute to the development of our region. Utilize your added knowledge for the Bangsamoro," added Nalg.
With its vision of achieving "one professional for every family," the MBHTE reaffirmed its commitment to providing opportunities for higher education, ensuring that no Bangsamoro learner is left behind.
