BDI, BWC Hold Joint Meeting to Review Gender in Islam Presentations

A joint meeting between the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) and the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' (BDI) was held on September 3, 2025 at the BWC conference room to review and enhance five key presentations related to Gender and Development (GAD) training. The session was attended by BDI jurists, ulama, and officers, led by Executive Director Sheikh Marhan Borhan.
The reviewed presentations included Women in Islam, Marriage, Rights of Women, Divorce, and Parenthood in Islam, which are regularly delivered to Community Peace Advocates and Muslim Religious Leaders (MRLs). The information was shared by Sheikh Mohammad Taib Pangca in a Facebook post.

The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta' (BDI), the religious authority of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), played a vital role in offering scholarly insights and Islamic guidance during the review. BDI representatives shared comments, suggestions, and recommendations aimed at strengthening the religious and cultural grounding of the lectures, ensuring they are aligned with Islamic principles while addressing contemporary gender issues.

The Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) initiated the review as part of its continuing efforts to improve GAD training materials in the region. Through its partnership with BDI, BWC aims to ensure that its lectures on gender-related topics are both inclusive and respectful of Islamic teachings. BWC was commended for its initiative, collaboration, and trust in involving religious leaders in the development of culturally sensitive educational content.
