MBHTE advances contextualized curriculum development for Bangsamoro learners

ZAMBOANGA CITY—The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) has successfully concluded a significant activity focused on developing contextualized lesson guides for Grades 2, 5, and 8, marking a key milestone in its commitment to providing relevant and inclusive education for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Held from August 29 to September 5, 2025, in Zamboanga City, the event brought together teacher-writers, illustrators, and education supervisors from the island divisions of Basilan, Lamitan City, and Tawi-Tawi. The initiative, led by Yul Olaya, Chief of the Curriculum and Learning Division (CLD), is part of a broader effort to align educational materials with the Bangsamoro Basic Education Curriculum Contextualization Framework.

The workshop included orientation sessions where participants were given valuable insights from external partners.

Resource persons from the University of the Philippines discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence in teaching, while representatives from the Hayrat Foundation Malaysia shared a faith-based approach to education.

This recent activity serves as a follow-up to a previous development workshop conducted in June 2025 in Davao City, which focused on producing lesson guides for the 1st and 2nd Quarters. The Davao event included participants from the mainland divisions of Cotabato City, the Special Geographic Area (SGA), Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur I, Lanao del Sur II, and Marawi City.

By engaging educators from across the region, the MBHTE is reinforcing its dedication to creating culturally sensitive and effective learning resources that meet the unique needs of Bangsamoro learners.
