Comelec suspends preparations for 1st Bangsamoro parliamentary elections

Garcia stated that this action is in compliance with the temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the Supreme Court, which prevents the poll body and the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) from implementing the law redistributing the seven parliamentary seats initially allocated to Sulu.
"Today, the Comelec en banc, in compliance with the temporary restraining order issued yesterday by the Supreme Court, is suspending preparations for the conduct of the elections on October 13," Garcia said in an interview.
When questioned about the likelihood of the elections proceeding as scheduled on October 13, 2025, Garcia acknowledged that the situation remains uncertain.
