BARMM parliament polls remain uncertain if no districting law is passed by November 30— Comelec

A little over a week was left before November 30, there's still no word from the Bangsamoro Transitory Authority (BTA) about the passage of a BARMM districting law, a vital component in the Comelec's preparation leading to the scheduled March 31, 2026, first BARMM parliamentary polls, a Manila Times report said.
"Unfortunately, at the moment, we are still waiting if they can pass the so-called district law... The uncertainty remains if they could really pass by November 30 [2025] the districting law," added Garcia.
Time is of the essence that if Comelec will fail to stick with its preparation’s timeline, it might not be able to fully prepare for the BARMM elections, the report said.
"We properly conveyed it to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority that the Comelec needs the [districting] law by November 30 because we will start the filing of candidacy either on January 1 or January 2, 2026 after the long [Christmas] vacation. Otherwise, we will not be able to do it, considering that this is an automated election," Garcia said as quoted by the Manila Times.
