Iqbal rallies Bangsamoro educators for purpose-driven Ramadan

?COTABATO CITY — As the Bangsamoro region enters the first week of the holy month of Ramadan, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal has called on the academic community to use this sacred period as a catalyst for both spiritual renewal and professional dedication.
In a message released on the first day of fasting, Iqbal, who heads the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), addressed thousands of teachers, learners, and education leaders across the BARMM. He emphasized that Ramadan is more than a ritual of fasting; it is a "sacred journey of reflection" that should translate into better service for the Bangsamoro youth.

?"Ramadan reminds us of our shared responsibility to nurture not only minds but also character, faith, and hope among our children and communities," Iqbal stated.

?Education as a Pillar of Peace

?The Minister’s message comes at a crucial time for the region. As the BARMM continues its transition toward the first regular parliamentary elections, the education sector remains a top priority under the banner of Moral Governance.

?Iqbal’s call for "inclusive, quality, and values-driven education" aligns with the Ministry's ongoing efforts to integrate Bangsamoro history and Islamic values into the curriculum—ensuring that the next generation is rooted in their identity while being globally competitive.

?Spiritual Devotion and Public Service

?Beyond the classroom, Iqbal urged MBHTE personnel to embody the spirit of the month by extending kindness and remaining steadfast in their mission.

?"May this holy month strengthen our unity, purify our intentions, and guide us in building a peaceful, just, and empowered Bangsamoro through education," he added.

?The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ officially declared the start of Ramadan on February 19, 2026. Since then, the regional government has adjusted working hours for Muslim employees to accommodate their religious obligations, a move that Iqbal noted should be met with "humility and renewed devotion to Allah (SWT)."

?Iqbal concluded his message with a prayer for patience and abundant blessings for all, reinforcing the idea that the pursuit of knowledge—much like the fast—is an act of worship in Islam.
