Mangudadatu condemns Tulfo's "Muslim" label in CAAP exec murder case

Mangudadatu expressed his "profound dismay and concern" over Tulfo's remarks, emphasizing the veteran broadcaster's responsibility to be careful with his words, whether spoken or written.
"In his deliberate use of the word 'Muslim' to describe the identity of the suspects in the killing of Ms. Infante, Mr. Tulfo has gravely besmirched not only the dignity of Maranaw Muslims and the entire Muslim community worldwide but also the sanctity of Islam," Mangudadatu stated.
He further emphasized Islam's teachings of "love, peace, justice, humility, discipline, respect, and compassion."
The representative stressed that an individual's ethnicity or origin is separate from their religious affiliation. "The crime committed by an individual is theirs alone and should not be attributed to their tribe or, especially, to the religion of the majority in the area where they come from," he explained.
Mangudadatu urged Tulfo to use his influence to promote understanding and unity among Filipinos, rather than perpetuating discrimination and misinformation between Muslims and Christians.
He appealed to Tulfo and all those with social influence to exercise caution in using the term "Muslim" as an identifier.
"Let us not hastily involve religion in our pronouncements when religion per se has no connection to the matter being discussed," Mangudadatu urged.
"Let us not allow ourselves to be instruments of discrimination and division in our society. Choose to be responsible. Choose to be an agent of enlightenment," Mangudadatu said.
