BHRC conducts electoral education session in Sultan Kudarat

The event gathered local government duty bearers from Sultan Kudarat for an in-depth discussion of the provisions and objectives of the Bangsamoro Electoral Code.
Provincial Director Atty. Edna Pandi led the session, providing a comprehensive overview of the law’s significance in fostering clean, inclusive, and credible elections within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
Pandi highlighted key reforms from Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 35 to No. 88, especially those related to representation and the system for selecting regional representatives.
Participants were also reminded of their vital electoral rights and responsibilities, including safeguarding voters’ freedom of choice, ensuring equal treatment, and providing accurate information to the public.
An open forum followed, allowing duty bearers to ask questions and share insights, enriching the discussion and fostering better understanding of electoral processes.
The Municipal Administrator of Sultan Kudarat, Mr. Banjo M. Mampon, expressed support for the commission’s efforts in promoting human rights and electoral integrity.
According to BHRC-MDNPO, the activity is part of its ongoing campaign to improve awareness, accountability, and capacity among duty bearers in upholding human rights and maintaining fair elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
