BARMM health minister leads vision screening for students in Kapalawan

?KAPALAWAN, SGA-BARMM — As part of his ongoing commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in the Special Geographic Area (SGA), Health Minister and Member of Parliament Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. spearheaded a community service mission at Langongan Elementary School this past Thursday.
The outreach program provided comprehensive vision screenings to grade school students, a critical step in identifying refractive errors and other visual impairments that can significantly hinder a child's learning process.

?Supporting Academic Success Through Health

?Research consistently demonstrates the vital link between visual health and academic achievement. Students who struggle with uncorrected vision issues often face difficulties reading textbooks, following lessons written on the board, and maintaining pace with their peers. By identifying these conditions early, the screening initiative aims to provide children with the necessary care and interventions to reach their full academic potential.

?"Our goal is to ensure that no Bangsamoro is left untreated or without access to necessary medical care," Sinolinding has previously stated regarding his broader healthcare mission.

?Collaborative Efforts for SGA

?The vision screening is part of a wider series of outreach initiatives supported by the Bangsamoro regional government and local leaders.

Kapalawan Vice Mayor Arifen Maguid lauded the mission, emphasizing the positive impact of Sinolinding’s public service efforts on the local community.

?In addition to the screening, the Office of Sinolinding recently delivered a substantial supply of medicines to the Kapalawan municipal government center, further bolstering the town's local healthcare capabilities.

Students identified with specific eye conditions through these screenings will receive continued support and referral for further care, facilitated by the collaboration between Sinolinding’s office and the medical staff at Deseret Surgimed Hospital in Kabacan, Cotabato.

?The success of these initiatives reflects the ongoing partnership between the BARMM government, provincial leadership—including Governor Emmylou Talino-Mendoza—and local government units in the SGA, all working toward a healthier and more prosperous future for the Bangsamoro people.
