BARMM adopts energy conservation measures, implements 4-day on-site work schedule

Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua issued a memorandum circular ordering the adoption of the new schedule, designed to accommodate religious observances during Ramadan while ensuring productivity and uninterrupted government services.
Under the adjusted arrangement, Muslim personnel observing Ramadan will work onsite from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with no noon break. Employees not observing the fast will report onsite from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a one-hour break.
Office heads will designate a one-day work-from-home schedule for staff to ensure sufficient personnel are present at all times.
Macacua stated that once Ramadan concludes with Eid’l Fitr on March 18, the region will transition to a compressed 40-hour work week spread over four days.
All employees reporting to offices must comply with attendance monitoring policies, while those working remotely are required to use authorized digital time-logging systems to track their hours.
The circular emphasizes that offices providing health, emergency, frontline, regulatory, and other essential services must maintain adequate staffing levels, with personnel either physically present or immediately available to meet the needs of the Bangsamoro people.
The new work arrangement forms part of BARMM’s broader efforts to promote energy efficiency across all government operations while balancing work requirements with cultural and religious practices in the region.
