Kapalawan LGU adopts to 4-day workweek

KAPALAWAN, SGA-BARMM — The Municipal Government of Kapalawan has officially transitioned to a four-day compressed workweek starting March 2026, following regional and national directives aimed at energy conservation and operational efficiency.
The shift, formalized through a recent memorandum from the Office of the Municipal Mayor, aligns with Memorandum Circular No. 114 from the Office of the President and the energy protocols adopted by the Bangsamoro Government. Under the new arrangement, municipal employees will render their mandatory 40-hour workweek over four days instead of five.

Key Details of the New Schedule:

- Onsite Work Days: Monday to Thursday

- Office Hours: To ensure the 40-hour requirement is met, daily schedules have been adjusted (typically 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or as specified by department heads)

- Friday Status: Municipal hall offices will be closed to the public on Fridays to significantly reduce building energy load and fuel consumption

Uninterrupted Public Service

Despite the compressed schedule, the local government emphasized that essential services—including health, emergency response, and law enforcement—will remain fully operational.

Mayor Norman Inalang has directed department heads to ensure that frontline services are not compromised, noting that the "uninterrupted delivery of services to the people of Kapalawan remains the top priority."

This move comes amid a broader regional trend, as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and neighboring provinces in Soccsksargen have adopted similar measures to mitigate the impact of global energy fluctuations.

Kapalawan is composed of Barangays Manarapan, Kitulaan, Langogan, Pebpoluan, Nasapian, Kibayao, and Tupig.
