BARMM lawmaker urges comprehensive action to curb armed clashes in Maguindanao Provinces

COTABATO CITY – Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament Member Faizal Karon, also known as Commander Randy, has called on the government to implement comprehensive measures to address armed fighting involving groups in rural communities across the Bangsamoro region.

The former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) field commander cited sporadic clashes among MILF leaders and members in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte, driven primarily by family feuds and land disputes.

Karon made the appeal during a forum held in Metro Manila on Monday, where he emphasized that Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) officials aim to align executive and legislative priorities with local government units to advance socioeconomic development and security in the region.

He proposed that the BARMM leadership establish a cohesive approach to resolve intermittent armed skirmishes between fellow Bangsamoro communities.

The lawmaker also noted that it is widely known that some field leaders from both the MILF and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) have been caught in violent conflicts with other armed groups linked to politicians in the two Maguindanao provinces.
