In the statement dated April 3, 2026, and signed by WAAG-PH President Camarodin Abdulbayan, the organization addressed circulating reports about alleged pronouncements by some ulama (Islamic scholars) concerning the MILF. WAAG-PH clarified that it fully backs the current MILF leadership and rejects any attempts to form or support other political parties outside the UBJP.

WAAG-PH, an organization of graduates from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, plays an influential role in religious and community affairs in the BARMM. The group described its position as rooted in Islamic principles of unity and loyalty to legitimate leadership.
