MILF leaders hold consultative meeting in Basilan to strengthen unity

Anwar Alamada, Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG), confirmed that the meeting took place at the Basilan Provincial Capitol in Lamitan City. It brought together key officers and members from the MILF-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), the Political Committee (PolCom), and other units of the organization.
“An effective meeting was conducted with the participation of officers and members as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen unity, discipline, and the collective stand of our organization,” Alamada said in a Facebook post.
Among those who attended were Mohagher Iqbal, First Vice Chairman of the MILF Central Committee, along with senior leaders Malik Caril, Eddie M. Alih, Estino Matarul, and representatives from various levels of the MILF structure.
During the gathering, participants exchanged updates on the normalization process, the broader peace agenda, and current developments within the organization. They also emphasized the need for sustained communication and coordination to maintain a solid and unified front.
An open forum allowed attendees to freely share their views, insights, and recommendations. The meeting concluded with a symbolic pledge of unity and commitment to the Bangsamoro cause.
Alamada highlighted that such consultative activities demonstrate the MILF’s continued dedication to fostering internal cohesion through transparent information-sharing and inclusive dialogue.
This latest gathering forms part of broader efforts to ensure solidarity within the MILF as the Bangsamoro region prepares for significant political developments, including the upcoming parliamentary elections.
