MP Tawakal Midtimbang reaffirms loyalty to UBJP despite BFP endorsement

COTABATO CITY — Member of Parliament Tawakal Midtimbang clarified on Sunday that he remains loyal to the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), despite being endorsed by the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) as its official candidate for the First District of Maguindanao del Sur in the upcoming first-ever parliamentary elections of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

In an official statement opened with Islamic greetings, Midtimbang expressed sincere gratitude to the BFP for its trust and confidence in him — an honor he said he shares with his family, friends, and supporters.

However, he firmly reiterated his unwavering loyalty to UBJP, the party that he and his father have long served and supported.

"I remain a committed member of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the party to which my father and I have long devoted our trust, loyalty, and service," he said.

According to Midtimbang, UBJP is not only their political home but also a symbol of their shared principles and dedication to the Bangsamoro cause.

He also called on the public not to allow the situation to sow division, stressing that unity and the shared goal of advancing the welfare, dignity, and future of the Bangsamoro people are far more important than any political difference.

Midtimbang further urged citizens to refrain from negative comments or actions that could breed discord within the community.

"Let us not allow this situation to create division among us," he said.

In a Filipino-language passage, he also appealed for collective support for a stable, just, and united Bangsamoro government.

In closing, Midtimbang once again affirmed his allegiance to UBJP.

"My party, our party, your party — UBJP," he said.

His statement is seen as a clear declaration of his political stance as the historic first parliamentary elections in the region draw near.
