The Mandate of Unity—Why the Bangsamoro Must Rally Behind the UBJP

As the political expression of a peace process that cost generations of "blood, tears, and deferred dreams," the UBJP is not just another option on a ballot. It is the institutional guardian of the Bangsamoro’s collective aspirations.
The Discipline of Peace
The transition from armed resistance to democratic governance is a perilous journey. History warns us of movements that won the battlefield but lost the peace to internal rivalries or elite interests. The Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) remains fragile; it requires a robust political structure to translate ideals into lived reality.
The UBJP serves as this structure—the political arm tasked with protecting the gains of peace. To splinter the Bangsamoro vote now is to hand the levers of our future back to those who did not pay the price for it. It is, in essence, a betrayal of the shuhada (martyrs) who died for our right to stand as a self-governing people.
Governance Through Cohesion
Practical governance demands more than just ideals; it requires coordination and institutional strength. In a region still defining its autonomy, the priority is not the diversification of power, but the consolidation of political cohesion.
• Principles over Personalities: The UBJP offers a platform that transcends individual ambition.
• A Unified Voice: A unified bloc can shape legislation and defend Bangsamoro interests far more effectively than fragmented, personality-driven factions.
• Moral Governance: Rooted in Islamic principles and democratic accountability, the UBJP’s framework reflects the identity and faith of the people.
A Covenant for Leaders
The responsibility to unify falls heavily on local leaders. Aligning with the UBJP is an affirmation of the larger project of self-governance. It is a message to constituents that the collective good outweighs personal careerism. However, this alignment is a covenant, not a blank check; leaders must govern with transparency and humility, embodying the party’s principles.
The Path Forward
The enemies of peace and progress often speak from within, using the language of "plurality" to mask the politics of fragmentation. The Bangsamoro must recognize that solidarity is not submission—it is strategy. As we approach the first parliamentary elections, we must choose whether to build or to bicker. Rallying behind the UBJP is an act of historical consciousness. We have earned the right to govern ourselves; now we must show the wisdom to do so together. One Bangsamoro. One Party. One Future.
