UBJP holds convention, fields 40 nominees for Bangsamoro elections

An estimated one to two thousand delegates attended, including representatives from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, commanders of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, officers of MILF provincial political committees, and participants from within and outside the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Peace monitoring bodies AHJAG and CCCH were also represented.
The nominees presented cover both district and sectoral seats in the Bangsamoro Parliament.
Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, UBJP President and MILF Central Committee Chairman, delivered the convention's closing message, describing the Bangsamoro as being at a critical juncture and calling for full use of democratic and legal mechanisms to complete the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
Mohagher Iqbal, Vice Chairman of the MILF Peace Panel, cited four reasons for the party's electoral participation: continuation of the struggle, completion of unfinished tasks, victory of the UBJP, and standing on what he called the right side of history.
UBJP spokesman and Central Committee on Information Chairman Engr. Mohajereen Ali, who delivered the welcome address, said the party represents the Bangsamoro people's aspirations for peace, order, and progress.
